Politecnico di Milano is the largest technical university in Italy, with approximately 1800 academics and researchers, which offers only study programmes in Engineering and Architecture. It is organized in 12 Departments of Engineering and Architecture and is currently one of the top ranked technical University in Europe. The Department of Energy counts nearly 250 people, including 110 faculty staff and 140 post-doctoral and doctoral researchers, working on advanced research activities concerning a wide range of energy sciences and technologies. In particular, three strategic sectors are investigated: energy technologies in transports; electric power generation, transmission and distribution; thermal engineering and efficient final energy use.
